From Heather Caners…”Everyone on Team Lawless is doing great! I believe we are down over 135 pounds! Larry is off his diabetic and blood pressure medications and we are all so much healthier! It is crazy! Thanks again. I know there is no way I would be 56 pounds lighter if it weren’t for this wonderful opportunity.”
Kate Ssemenchuk (Team Captain)
Kate keeps it simple…”Why are we joining? Simply, we weigh over a ton.” Kate hints at coming from an overweight family, and admits she could give a million other reasons and dozens of sob stories as to why her team should be in ‘Winnipeg’s Biggest Loser’, but chooses to settle on one fact – she and her team are committed and ready to give 100 per cent. “We know this will take a lot of hard work and sacrifice, and are ready to face it. We need to take all the help we can get in order to make our lives better for us, our children and our families. Please help us turn our lives around and get headed in the right direction.”
Heather Caners
Thirty years of age and currently on mat leave from her job as a support worker, Heather has struggled with her weight since she was young, and hopes to impart positive lifestyles on her daughters once they’re older. (they’re currently 3 and 6 months old) She doesn’t want them to have similar struggles, and is excited to make the most of her gym time in order to accomplish that.
Larry Caners
Larry, a City of Winnipeg employee, can’t recall a time in his life when he wasn’t overweight. He has type 2 diabetes and hypertension, and wants to stop taking medications for it by making some life changes. He wants to feel healthier and have more energy to spend more time with his wife and daughters.
Angie Thompson
Angie, 35, has a 14 month-old son. She’s been heavy most of her life, but made it worse once she got older and less active. Angie’s goal is to attain some more energy for playing and running on the beach with her son, without getting that winded feeling. She’s excited for the opportunity and looks foward to leading a healthier lifestyle.
